Contact

I can be reached by email at contact@maproomblog.com. I appreciate hearing from my readers, but I should warn you that I’m terrible at responding to messages.

I cannot answer general questions about maps or geography, or about the websites I link to.

Review Copies

Items sent to me for review should have maps or cartography as their primary focus. As an amateur, I am unable to review technical books for programmers or geospatial professionals; on the other hand, as a lapsed historian, I can handle historical monographs. The best fit for me are books or products aimed at a broad audience or at arts-and-humanities academia.

You can send ebooks to me at contact@maproomblog.com; I can handle Adobe Digital Editions, epub, mobi (Kindle) and PDF files. To send something via postal, courier or shipping services (for example, a review copy or product sample), please contact me first in order to get my address.

I won’t be able to review every book or product sent to me, nor can I promise to review it promptly or favourably. I will disclose if I have received a review copy. Reviews will usually contain links to online stores (Amazon, Bookshop) with my affiliate ID; I earn income from qualifying purchase via those links.

I am always looking for new and interesting web pages about maps that I can link to.

Links should be current, or at least something I haven’t seen before (search before submitting), and freely available (i.e. no paywalls). I won’t post unattributed maps: if it’s making the social media rounds, I need to know who created it before I can post it here.

You’re welcome to suggest your own work, but I’ll be selective in what I post. Your link has to be of interest to a non-professional audience, even if they don’t buy your product. Be newsworthy; I don’t provide free advertising.

I’m not able to handle interviews, guest posts or other collaborative work at this time.

The Map Room does not accept sponsored posts or participate in link exchanges under any circumstances.
